Restoration information
MP Krew is a restoration company as well as a general contractor. Here is what to do when water gets in, how the Krew dries it out and rebuilds it, and answers to common questions, in plain words.
Water leak right now? Do this first
- Step 01
Shut off the water
Find the valve under the sink or behind the toilet, or the main shut-off for the home.
- Step 02
Stay safe around power
If water is near outlets or cords, keep away and turn off that circuit at the breaker only if you can reach it from a dry spot.
- Step 03
Take photos
Of the leak, the wet areas and anything damaged, before anything is moved.
- Step 04
Lift what you can
Move rugs, boxes and furniture off wet floors.
- Step 05
Call
The sooner the drying starts, the less has to be torn out.
How restoration works
- Step 01
Find the water
A thermal camera and a moisture meter show where the water went, before anything gets cut.
- Step 02
Pull out the standing water
Extraction comes first. Until the standing water is gone, nothing can really dry.
- Step 03
Remove what can't be saved
Wet baseboards, flooring, drywall and insulation come out before mold has a chance to start.
- Step 04
Dry it and prove it
Air movers and dehumidifiers run behind plastic walls, and readings are taken room by room until it reads dry.
- Step 05
Rebuild it
The same company puts back the framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, tile, cabinets, paint and finishes, so the space comes back the way it was.
Common questions
Is the estimate free?
Yes. An estimate is a visit to look at the job and price the work, and it is free. An inspection is a written report on the condition of a property, and it is a paid service.
How fast can you start?
Emergency jobs can usually start within two days. Other work, within about a week.
How long does drying take?
Usually a few days. The moisture readings decide when it is done, not the calendar. Nothing gets closed up until it reads dry.
Do I have to leave my home?
Usually not. The wet area is sealed off with plastic so you can keep using the rest of the home. On bigger jobs, some rooms may be off limits for a few days.
Will I deal with one company?
Yes. MP Krew runs the whole job. Drywall is our own licensed trade; plumbing, electrical and AC are done with licensed partners we manage.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, when the plans are already drawn up and submitted. We do not draw plans ourselves.
Do you work with property managers and HOAs?
Yes. Apartment communities, HOAs and property management companies are a big part of our work.
Where do you work?
All of San Diego County, from Chula Vista to Oceanside.
¿Hablan español?
Sí. Hablamos español.
